Local schools in the Far North are benefiting from the Palaszczuk Government’s continued investment in school maintenance.
Member for Cook, Cynthia Liu said the Palaszczuk Government was committed to delivering world-class educational facilities for all Queensland students.
“Our Government is delivering a state wide Infrastructure Investment program valued at more than $778 million during 2017-18,” she said.
“This funding will help state schools continue to address maintenance needs and ensure students have access to quality education facilities.”
“The Palaszczuk Government’s school maintenance program is not only building better schools in the Cook electorate but also providing valuable jobs for tradies and training opportunities for apprentices.”
Some of the projects in the area include:

$900,000 for Mareeba State School to Refurbish Block G and H

Over $30,000 for Mareeba State High School to replace an air conditioner and flooring

Over $500 for Mareeba Kindy to repair damaged gutter guard

$250,000 for Cooktown State School to refurbish Block D

Over $29,000 for the Bloomfield River State School for toilet block repaint and landscaping

$200,000 for Northern Peninsula Area State College to refurbish Block A – Injinoo

$300,000 for the Hope Vale Campus of CYAAA to refurbish Block C

Over $12,000 for Port Douglas State School to replace guttering

Over $5,000 for Mossman State School for barrier termite treatment
