Member for Cook Cynthia Lui in partnership with the Mareeba Chamber of Commerce and the Mareeba Business Women’s Club hosted a highly successful Business lunch providing an opportunity for locals to network and hear about the Palaszczuk Government’s initiatives and commitment to supporting businesses in regional Queensland.
The Palaszczuk Government has many great initiatives to support small business, including entrepreneur grants, Pay Roll Tax Relief Package, Back to Work and the Skills Boost program. We are also investing in our future workforce through our Free TAFE for young School Leavers and Free Apprenticeship for Under 21’s.
“I gave the Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development, Shannon Fentiman a personal invite to come to Mareeba to take part in our Business Lunch Event. Most importantly, I wanted to give local businesses and organisations in Mareeba the opportunity to meet with the Minister and raise questions regarding the Palaszczuk Government’s support to help small business grow in the region.”
“Small businesses are the engine room of our economy and the lifeblood of our communities. In Mareeba people want jobs – lets work together to create more opportunities for economic prosperity well into the future”, Ms Lui said.
“Mareeba has a thriving small business sector that is so important for locals and our state’s economic growth and future development.”
Joe Moro, President of Mareeba Chamber of Commerce said, “We were pleased to host the Honourable Shannon Fentiman, Minister for Employment and Small Business, Training and Skills Development, at our recent chamber luncheon. It’s not every day that a Minister visits a regional community, so the chamber appreciates that Ms Fentiman took time out of her busy schedule.
“Feedback from those who attended was positive. The information on small business grants was particularly welcomed.” Mr Moro said.
