Member for Cook Cynthia Lui is calling upon Queenslanders in the Cook electorate to inform the future for the state’s arts, cultural and creative sector to best support Queensland’s vibrancy and growth.
“Consultation is now open on Creating Queensland’s Future: 10-Year Roadmap for the arts, cultural and creative sector to inform the future direction of state government investment,” she said.
“We are asking Queenslanders to consider a draft vision for the arts, cultural and creative sector and have a say on actions to grow Queensland’s creative future.
“Arts Queensland will be leading an eight week consultation process opening on 23 October with a website (www.arts.qld.gov.au/RoadmapConsultation) featuring the discussion paper and surveys for the community and the arts sector.
“Arts Queensland will also coordinate face to face consultations, regional forums, and the invitation of submissions.
Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch opened the consultation on 23 October and welcomed the public and communities across the state, industry, business and all levels of government to share insights and help gather a wide range of views
“We are serious about nurturing creativity and creative thinking, supporting cultural and economic development, and boosting the capacity of the sector,” Minister Enoch said.
“We know that creativity is key to Queensland’s future as a critical skill set for jobs in the growing knowledge economy.
“This is a sector that has great potential to connect communities, drive cultural tourism, create employment opportunities and affect positive change in all areas of society, from education to health and justice issues,” Minister Enoch said.
“A focus on the arts, cultural and creative industries is part of the Government’s commitment to Our Future State: Advancing Queensland’s Priorities.”
“We are looking to Queenslanders, the sector and other stakeholders on how best to grow the sector and enhance economic and social outcomes,” she said.
